Job Description:

Minimum Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's Degree or higher
  • Two (2) years of work experience developing, maintaining, and supporting computer networks, software and hardware applications, and servers
  • Ability to work a flexible schedule to include nights and weekends

Examples of Duties:
  • Plans, installs, monitors, and maintains a computer network, to include, but not limited to, mainframe and personal computer development, virtual servers, technical support, and training;
  • Performs network management, including VLAN management, switch configurations, and cabling;
  • Performs system administration tasks and routine maintenance;
  • Provides routine updates to the Library's websites;
  • Maintains and utilizes imaging software to maintain public and staff PCs;
  • Maintains inventory of computer hardware and printer supplies;
  • Assist the Library Technology Specialist (Trainer) in providing computer classes to the public and staff;
  • Coordinates special project with other Library staff;
  • Documents and updates system configuration and operating procedures;
  • Analyzes requirements for new hardware and coordinates procurement with outside vendors as needed;
  • Performs technical support and troubleshooting on hardware and software problems;
  • Provides on-call support for technological emergencies on designated shifts;
  • Keeps Technology Manager and designated others fully and accurately informed concerning work progress, including present and potential work problems and suggestions for new or improved ways of addressing such problems;
  • Attends meetings, conferences, workshops and training sessions and reviews publications and audio-visual materials to become and remain current on the principles, practices and new developments in assigned work areas;
  • Responds to city or state officials', employees', and or other citizens' questions and comments in a courteous and timely manner;
  • Communicates and coordinates regularly with appropriate others to maximize the effectiveness and efficiency of information services operations and activities;
  • Performs other directly related duties consistent with the role and function of the classification.
