Job Description:

Position Purpose
The Audit Supervisor is responsible for contributing to the achievement of the firm’s objectives including:

  • Assisting with audit and accounting projects and related tax returns
  • Project planning/scheduling
  • Supervising staff assigned to your projects
  • Assisting with staff coaching, mentoring and training

Position Reports To
Managers and partners

Position Responsibilities
The primary responsibilities of the Audit Supervisor are:

  • Audit engagement planning and performance
    • Plan, schedule and perform audit fieldwork with assistance from partner/manager
    • Assist with supervising the staff assigned to audit projects to ensure that schedules, budgets, and quality requirements are met
    • Initial review of workpapers prepared by junior staff
    • Monitoring budgeted hours for audit projects and notifying the partner/manager when a project grows out of scope or is moving toward a budget overage
    • Communicating the engagement status with the partner/manager and the client on a timely and consistent basis
  • Technical Skills
    • Attending continuing professional education seminars as agreed upon with the assigned career advisor to stay current on accounting pronouncements and tax law
  • Office Administration and Client Service
    • Perform research as needed
    • Participating in staff training and mentoring
  • Preparation of financial statements and business tax returns

Skills and Education Required
The skills and education required for this position are:

  • CPA certificate and bachelor’s degree in accounting
  • 3-7 years of experience (preferably in public accounting)
  • Good written and verbal communication skills
  • Good research skills
  • Ability to comprehend complex auditing, accounting, and tax concepts
  • Good leadership skills, ability to supervise others
  • Proficiency in Word and Excel and other accounting software

Measures of Success
The Audit Supervisor will be deemed to have been successful when he or she has:

  • Completed the engagements assigned to him/her within the expected budgets and timelines
  • Received positive feedback from his/her clients, managers and partners
  • Exhibited a positive attitude while contributing to the firm’s growth and objectives
