Provide quality service to the citizens of Apache Junction which includes the protection and preservation of life and property and the maintenance of an environment where people feel safe from crime and disorder; investigate crime and perform crime prevention work; enforce Federal, State and local laws and regulations.

The City of Apache Junction (AJ) Police Department enjoys broad community support, is accredited by the Arizona Association of Chiefs of Police, and is searching for quality candidates that are interested in future promotional opportunities as well as expanded assignment roles such as Motors, Detectives, and SWAT.

The City has a full-time population of 41,739 residents with a winter population of more than 75,000. Apache Junction is nestled at the base of the Superstition Mountains and Usery Mountain State Park which offer various recreational activities such as hiking, camping, biking, boating, and fishing in the Tonto National Forest as well as other recreational areas. AJ is currently experiencing residential housing growth as well as new businesses.

Job Responsibilities
Support City policies, goals and objectives and work with management and other staff to ethically achieve such goals and objectives; ensure compliance with safety procedures. Other Information/License, Certifications, Etc
The results of this recruitment may be used to fill up to eight (6) vacancies in the Public Safety department and other vacancies that may occur during the life of the eligible list.
PHYSICAL AGILITY TESTING IS SCHEDULED FOR SATURDAY, FEBRUARY 20, 2021.
ELIGIBLE CANDIDATES WILL BE NOTIFIED IN WRITING OF THE TIME AND PLACE.

LICENSE, CERTIFICATION AND/OR SPECIAL
REQUIREMENTS:
Candidates who are selected for appointment may be fingerprinted, if 18 or older; successfully complete a background investigation, employment verification and may be subject to a drug/alcohol test, medical, polygraph and/or psychological evaluation. Candidates who are appointed will be required to possess a valid driver"s license to operate a vehicle in Arizona.

Certified by Arizona Peace Officer Standards and Training Board (AZPOST) or able to achieve AZPOST certification within six (6) months of appointment.
Arizona Criminal Justice Information System Terminal Operator (ACJIS) certification, within four (4) months of appointment.

Minimum Qualifications
Must possess a High School diploma or GED, be a citizen of the United States AND;

Be at least 21 years old by the time of graduation from an Arizona police academy, OR;

Currently enrolled in or graduated from an Arizona police academy within six (6) months of application and obtain AZPOST certification as a Peace Officer within thirty (30) days of appointment.
