Position Overview

The Claim Support I position is responsible for entry-level clerical work in the Property & Casualty (P&C) Claim department, which includes indexing, requesting police reports, typing form letters and transcribing recorded statements.

Essential Job Functions

  • Completes basic office work functions such as photocopying, faxing, indexing mail, email, and archiving and transcribing recorded statements
  • Utilizes claim software to enter statistical information, as well as enter and print draft payments
  • Orders police reports through online software
  • Completes title applications and applies for salvage titles
  • Learns and applies appropriate claim software searches to index mail and faxes
  • Imports Claim Adjuster e-mails into claim software
  • Answers Call Center phone calls on existing claims, assists the caller with questions, or directs the call to the appropriate P&C Claim personnel
  • Uses Microfilm machine & rolls to pull claim history
  • Performs other duties as assigned

Education and Experience

  • High School diploma or equivalency
  • Typically requires 0-2 years of related experience
  • Experience working with Microsoft Word preferred


  • Ability to analyze, organize, and prioritize work while meeting multiple deadlines
  • Ability to review work for accuracy
  • Basic knowledge of office procedures and of spelling, grammar, punctuation, and arithmetic
  • Ability to exercise proper telephone protocol
  • Skill in labeling, preparing, parsing, and copying
  • Ability to accurately prepare and maintain records, files, and reports
  • Ability to work as a team member and follow directions
  • Ability to communicate effectively in oral and written form
  • Must be able to work overtime as required
