General Purpose:
In this role, you will be responsible for supporting all aspects of the legal department (currently 3 attorneys and 3 paralegals) and have an opportunity to become a vital part of an established legal team that provides day-to-day support, including legal, risk and business analysis, to Troon’s business units. This paralegal position reports to Troon’s SVP, Associate General Counsel and works closely with all members of the legal department. Your duties will include providing legal support assistance to the legal team in areas such as HR, contracts, litigation management, intellectual property, and international business law.

The position requires strong verbal and written communication skills in assisting the legal team in providing timely legal and business advice and guidance.     Essential Duties:
  • Provide legal support assistance to the legal team as requested.
  • Maintain and update legal calendar and related databases.
  • Conduct legal research and prepare legal memorandums.
  • Assist with subpoena responses and other records requests.
  • Assist in gathering and preparing documents and other records for discovery responses.
  • Prepare, update and maintain litigation hold notices and related records.
  • Coordinate conference calls and witness interviews.
  • Assist in preparation of company policies and procedures.
  • Assist with reviews and/or drafts miscellaneous agreements and contracts.
  • As requested, drafts contract amendments, assignments, notices, legal correspondence, etc.
  • As requested, incorporates LOI terms into draft management agreements.
  • Assist with due diligence/closing relating to major company transactions (mergers, acquisitions, loans, etc.), as well as for individual property acquisitions and/or investments; interface and correspond with outside counsel relating thereto.
  • Assist general managers with respect to insured and non-insured claims and other legal matters; respond to various information requests.
  • As is relates to contracts, follows-up on outstanding legal documents/issues, as needed.
  • Distributes copies of contracts to appropriate corporate, regional, and property staff.
  • Work with corporate personnel in a professional and discrete manner.
  • Maintain confidentiality at all times.
  • Regular and reliable attendance.

  • 3-5 years of paralegal experience in an established law firm or corporation.
  • Bachelor’s degree (BA) from four-year college or university; or Associate’s degree/certificate in paralegal studies with 3-5 years of legal work experience.
  • Strong IT skills, including the ability and desire to learn new software and systems to improve the functioning of the corporate team.

  • Previous experience with HR issues and employment laws and/or reviewing contracts and basic contract law and/or litigation and discovery.
  • Strong work ethic and willingness to go “above and beyond” to meet requirements of the position when required.
