Purpose:
The purpose of this position is to have a staff member that assists the cook and all other kitchen staff in the preparation of meals. The Kitchen Assistant aims to serve as a major support to all other kitchen staff to ensure that the meal prep goes smoothly.

ROLE AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Job Duties:
- Read senior center menu and serve meals accordingly.
- Serve lunch and dessert to all seniors.
- Wash dishes, pots and utensils.
- Perform all other duties assigned for the senior center.
- Serve as a substitute when the Employment Specialist is not present for the day.
- Must be able to quickly and efficiently prepare food
- Must be able to follow directions
- High School Degree preferred
- Minimum of one (1) year preferred in the food industry
- Strong commitment to high level of service and quality standards
- Ability to plan and organize
- Ability to work well under pressure and meet deadlines
- Strong sense of urgency; self-directed
- Ability read and understand labels and instructions, particularly regarding food safety and food hygiene procedures
- Team building • Decision making skills
- Problem solving skills
- Time management skills
- Ability to work with little supervision
