Position Summary

Summary:
The Life Safety and Environment of Care Supervisor will facilitate and coordinate Life Safety and Environment of Care activities including assisting in developing and implementing programs; assists overseeing survey programs across the organization; and supervising the preparation of Environment of Care committee material. Responsible for the coordination of the 6 Environment of Care Management Plans.

Works under the direct supervision of the Assistant Director, Facilities Engineering. Performs the specific duties and general competencies required of the role for which s/he is assigned. Demonstrates sense of urgency and ownership, high degree of self-motivation, commitment and integrity, enthusiasm, initiative, pride in work. Is committed to providing excellent customer service to staff, physicians, business partners, and vendors. May perform other duties as assigned.

  • Standard Work Duties: Supervisor - Life Safety / EOC
  • Assists in the development and implementation of EOC and life safety systems programs.
  • Assists with planning, organizing and directing the development and implementation of surveying tools and resources to perform regularly scheduled surveys across Lakeland Regional Health facilities, including the generation of applicable reports and statistics.
  • Assists and coordinates the development and revision of EOC policies and procedures.
  • Oversees the coordination, planning, and preparation of EOC Committee meetings, data, presentations and minutes.
  • Responds to and attends external life safety (LS) surveys at Lakeland Regional Health buildings to include, but not limited to, Agency for Healthcare Administration (AHCA), Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS), The Joint Commission (TJC), Fire Marshal/Inspector, insurance carrier, etc.
  • Maintains effective liaisons with local outside planning and enforcement agencies (i.e. local Fire Departments, Agency for Health Care Administration (AHCA), and The Joint Commission (TJC)).
  • Provides assistance when needed to hospital departments with concerns or issues arising from EOC and LSS internal surveys or exercises and/or external inspections.
  • Works cooperatively with team members and leadership to optimize the performance of EOC and LS programs.

Qualifications & Experience

    Education:
    Essential:
  • Associate Degree
  • Nonessential:
  • Bachelor Degree

    Education equivalent experience:
    Essential:
  • Trade, vocation school, or building trades apprenticeship and two (2) years of directly related work experience may substitute for the Associate's degree (in addition to the requirements listed in the Experience section).
  • Nonessential:
  • Arts/Science



  • Other information:
    Experience Essential:
  • Five (5) years of work experience in safety, building or facility maintenance
  • Experience with Life Safety survey preparation and mitigation.
  • Experience with Environment of Care Management Planning

  • Experience Preferred:
  • Ten (10) years of work experience in safety, building or facility maintenance
  • Facilities focused oversight of Life Safety compliance

  • Certifications Essential:
  • Certified Life Safety Specialist (CLSS)

  • Certifications Preferred:
  • Certified Fire Protection Specialist (CFPS), Lean Six Sigma

  • Licenses Essential:
  • Class E Drivers License
