The physical requirements of this position include: a considerable amount of physical work, lifting up to 50 pounds of supplies and instruments; intermittent physical mobility/activity including walking, standing, sitting, light lifting, pulling or pushing carts, equipment, etc.; ability to bend body downward at the waist; ability to kneel; and exposure to sharps, instruments, equipment, x-ray, blood and body fluids, odors, infections, and some hazardous chemicals.
Monday-Friday 11:00 pm-7:30 am, with some on-call hours; some weekend and/or holiday shifts may be required per departmental needs.
The Central Services Technician must have working knowledge of regulatory standards for universal precautions, sterilization methodologies, and regulatory standards for biological monitoring. Responsibilities include but are not limited to assembling and processing surgical instrument trays; decontaminating used instruments; answering phone calls; responding to OR requests; and maintaining cleanliness of the department/workstation.
The ideal candidate will have basic knowledge of aseptic techniques, following the universal standard precautions, and knowledge of operating room instrumentation,
Central sterile experience preferred. CSPD Certification preferred.
