Area Managers enjoy working directly with team members and customers, take pride in seeing folks succeed, are able to lead larger groups of people. Working with other FMS leaders, Branch Managers are able to create and implement plans to handle outages and minor problems on a daily basis as well as tackle more complex problems within their service area. Most importantly, Area Managers help create a positive, team-oriented environment and are champions of FMS initiatives, values, and our mission to use our resources to serve our employees and communities in an effort to reduce suffering and promote well-being.

The Area Manager reports to the assigned Operations Director. Duties include, but are not limited to:

 Understanding the needs of our workforce and the greater communities in which we live

 Showing each and every person you interact with that you care

 Acting out FMS’s core values

 Acting as a key component to company success by being available when needed and contributing to team work and a exhibiting a “can do attitude.”

 Communicating company programs, initiatives, and development opportunities to direct reports, as well as contributing and participating in those programs, including but not limited to: o New account start-ups o Leadership Retreat o Team Appreciation Carnival

 Identifying, recognizing, and rewarding your direct reports by utilizing o Rave Awards o FMS gift cards o HR/Operations Administration

 Identifying the next level of FMS leadership and working with HR on a developmental track for those team members

 Promoting and modeling a safe work environment, holding your team accountable for doing the same, and upholding safety standards by regularly utilizing safety reports provided by Ops Administrator

 Assisting HR in interviewing, orientation and job placement

 Partnering with Human Resources prior to any and all terminations

 Ensuring that 30-day training is executed

 Facilitating and supporting the development of lower level leaders by ensuring participation in leadership training opportunities

 Conducting periodic safety and cleaning training as needed

 Recruiting Good People to fulfill the needs of your team

 Promoting FMS to Good People wherever you go

 Understanding and teaching how clean spaces impact clean environments, therefore promoting healthy communities.

 Regularly and clearly communicating improvement needs to direct reports

 Collecting and analyzing data in order to identify daily and long term challenges within your assigned accounts

 Meeting/communicating with your direct reports daily

 Coaching supervisors on problem solving

 Working with direct reports to identify recurring problems, creating and implementing plans and procedures to alleviate problems, and documenting that those plans and procedures are carried out using current FMS tools and technology, including but not limited to: o OTK o TEAM o eHub o I Was Here worksheet o Smartphone

 Performing inspections

 Managing day to day operations of your fleet and warehouse and communicating needs and/or issues to your director

 Working with Director in developing and executing plans to handle daily and long-term challenges

 Recruiting, training, and maintaining a sufficient floater pool and assigning floaters tasks daily

 Providing clear instructions/specific tasks to your team members

 Adhering to the policies and procedures in the FMS Policy Manual

 Working with your direct reports to ensure supply and equipment needs are met and closets are neat and stocked at all times

Sustainable Business

 As a mission driven business, understanding our role in the community and our commitment to positive social impact

 Ensuring customer needs and requests are met by: o Always being aware of FMS’s status with customers and accounts o Working with FMS sales team on developing customer relationships with new business o Fostering and maintaining existing customer relationships

 Managing the budget of each of your assigned accounts

 Relaying account changes to your Director including but not limited to; changes in scope of work, changes in square footage, billing changes, and account contact changes

 Working with your director and sales team to develop and execute start up plans for new business

 Managing the execution of administrative duties within your branch

 Working with other department managers to ensure that policies and procedures involving Operations are being followed (i.e., Human Resources, Finance and
Accounting, and Special Services)

 Following proper procedures for FMS expenditures, credit card usage, and expense reporting

An FMS Area Manager must be able to:

Lift, push or pull objects up to 40lbs.
Spend many hours a day traveling between facilities and walking
Be flexible in their working hours
Be on their feet for extended amounts of time
Reach and bend with some regularity
Work in difficult environments
Utilize FMS software as required, including but not limited to: Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, and a Smartphone
