Job Description:

Assists law enforcement personnel in the apprehension and identification of persons and/or property utilizing the criminal justice computer system
Verifies accuracy and compliance with state and federal guidelines of entries, modifications, and validations in national computer systems
Receives, sends and documents emergency and non-emergency information to all law enforcement agencies EXAMPLES OF DUTIES: UNDER GENERAL SUPERVISION
Coordinates the notification of LMPD, federal, state, local and tribal criminal justice agencies regarding time sensitive information that is vital to officer safety through the National Law Enforcement Telecommunications System (NLETS)
Enters, modifies and validates data according to national and internal requirements
Communicates with police officers to provide information and verify identity of individuals being detained or investigated to determine if a current warrant exists
Completes and processes forms, documents and correspondence
Acts as liaison between officers and court systems pertaining to mental inquest and criminal warrants
Assists in the transfer of and tracking of targeted data
Prepares and maintains various logs
Communicates with and provides information to external law enforcement agencies regarding the status of stolen property, wanted/missing persons, and other related police matters
Receives, processes and completes requests for hit confirmations for law enforcement agencies on hot files within ten minutes according to NCIC and state policies and procedures
Receives, interprets and disseminates bulletins, requests for service and other requests for assistance from law enforcement agencies
Evaluates situations and makes decisions for assistance based on standard operating procedures
Refers citizens to appropriate governmental, community, social services, and other law enforcement agencies for assistance
Performs related work MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS: High school diploma or the equivalent

Eighteen months of clerical experience, nine of which must have been in computerized record-keeping procedures

Must be a US Citizen
Must type accurately at 35 wpm
Must be a minimum of 18 years of age
Must be of good moral character, with no criminal or felony record inconsistent with the provisions of this paragraph. Unacceptable will be persons who have been convicted of a felony, or who have any criminal action pending against them
An applicant may be disqualified for multiple misdemeanors, an unacceptable criminal record, or multiple traffic violations
Applicants who have bought or sold marijuana within three years of application, or have bought or sold any controlled substance or narcotic drug without a prescription within six years of application will be disqualified
Must submit to a pre-employment drug screening
Must submit to a pre-employment polygraph test
Must submit to fingerprinting for criminal history check
Must work a varied schedule

Must be certified as a LINK/NCIC Basic Operator (Full Access) in the State of Kentucky or obtain within six months of employment

Meets regular and punctual attendance standards and any special needs of the position as determined by management, including mandatory overtime and performing related work
