Job Description

The School of Medicine’s Central HR team within the Dean’s Office is pleased to announce the opening of Human Resources Consultant. This position reports to the HR Leader for the School of Medicine and works closely with all of the leadership in the departments and centers of the School of Medicine to provide HR consultative customer service on HR policy and processes.

Duties include, but not limited to:

  • Primary responsibility for front-line consultation of HR activities for all the departments and centers within the School of Medicine which also includes units dedicated to basic science, clinical operations, medical student education, graduate medical education and extensive research activities. Provides HR support for Dean’s office, Dean’s Business and Finance and Distributed SOM IT teams.
  • Explains HR policies and procedures to advise and assist others within the School; advises supervisors throughout the school; department leadership/management and the Chair(s) of the Department(s).
  • Works directly with the School of Medicine Dean’s office HR leadership on HR matters, such as position classification, employee relations and training/development.
  • Oversee and guides process completion and related programs, policies and procedures including but not limited to: recruiting, hiring, offers, immigration assistance for candidates (H1B & J1 processing), training, compliance, payroll and performance management.
  • Coordinates resources to set daily priorities to meet operational objectives and offsets competing priorities.
  • May serve as a representative of the functional unit.
  • Uses judgement to identify, troubleshoot and resolve day-to-day HR technical and operational problems.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Monday - Friday

8:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m.

Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor's degree or an equivalent combination of education and experience and at least 3 years of experience from which comparable knowledge and skills can be acquired is necessary.

Preferred Qualifications

SHRM-CP or PHR preferred.

2-3 years experience in serving as an HR professional for a group of 1000+ employees

Experience working as part of a highly functioning HR team, 2-3 years previous supervisory experience
