POSTING DATE: November 10, 2020POSITION TITLE: Para II-Behavior Interventionist (1:1)DAYS PER YEAR: 185 DAYS PER WEEK: 5 HOURS PER DAY: 6.5POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES: Assist the Preschool Lead Teacher with the classroom supervision of one student at a time in classroom with up to 16 students. This position will require the para educator to work with two different students within the classroom.Support special needs student in the areas of academics, communication, self-help skills, social skills, and behavior management.Manage organization, supervision, and daily tasks of student as required by Preschool Lead Teacher.Must be the kind of person who is warm, caring, respectful, but firm. Must have a strong desire to work with children as well as a willingness to learn.DAILY RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE BUT NOT LIMITED TO: Ensure the safety of ALL studentsProvide direct supportive services for the duration of
the school dayReinforce generalization and maintenance of skillsCollect data on targeted skills as requested by Preschool Lead Teacher or BCBACommunicate with parent via home communication logCommunicate any student-specific concerns to Preschool Leader TeacherPerforms other duties as assigned by the Preschool Lead Teacher or Special Education CoordinatorMaintains a high level of ethical behavior and confidentialityQUALIFICATIONS: Para II Certified or eligible for certificationCertified in Crisis Prevention Intervention or similar programDocumented experience with implementing Behavior Intervention Plans under the supervision of the Preschool Lead Teacher and BCBAClassroom support experience and/or experience working with individuals with disabilities.REPORTS TO: Preschool Lead Teacher, BCBA, and Special Education CoordinatorSALARY RANGE: As per Newport Support Staff Agreement, Benefited positionSTARTING DATE: ASAP
