Job Summary:
Nuclear Waste Partnership, an LLC of Amentum, managing and operating contractor of the Waste Isolation Pilot Plant (WIPP) is currently seeking a qualified individual to serve as an Underground Emergency Response Coordinator to join our Emergency Preparedness team located in Carlsbad, NM.

The successful candidate must have leadership experience and expert understanding in underground emergency preparedness, emergency response and mine rescue operations. Collaborate with Underground Operations on emergency preparedness. Coordinate underground drills and conduct assessments on underground response capabilities/equipment. Responsible for maintaining two Mine Rescue Team’s training and qualification requirements and equipment. Able to participate with and development of recommendation to the MSHA rules committee. Assist Emergency Management with Drills and Exercises.

Exempt Salary Grade (32-34)
Minimum Requirements:
  • Bachelor’s Degree plus ten (10) years of relevant experience, or
  • Associate’s Degree with fourteen (14) years of relevant experience, or
  • High School Diploma or GED plus eighteen (18) years of relevant experience (related experience must be underground mining and industrial operations) is required.
  • Five (5) years expertise and participation in mine rescue team training and response procedures is mandatory.
  • MSHA Blue Card for Training is required.
  • Due to the nature of the work, all candidates must be US Citizens.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Demonstrated leadership/supervisory experience is desired.
  • Experience working at WIPP or a hazardous waste facility is preferred.
  • Experience in multiple Mine Rescue Team competitions and responding to mine emergencies.
  • Previous WIPP Project experience is a plus.
