Job Description:
Department of Homeless Services leads a 24/7/365 Street Homelessness Solutions - Joint Command Center (JCC) that conducts interagency rapid outreach deployment from a central location using precision mapping, client information, and rapid response to incoming notifications. This initiative partners existing homeless response and prevention programs with a series of new initiatives that have been designed to better identify, engage, and transition homeless New Yorkers to appropriate services and, ultimately, permanent housing.

The Department of Homeless Services is recruiting one (1) City Laborer to function as a JCC Laborer, who wil:
- Assist clients with relocation of personal belongings
- Move, lift, and carry items of various weight and sizes
- Utilize hand or power-driven equipment
- Operate motor vehicles in connection with the performance of duties such as transporting client belongings to and from placements, storage facility, and other locations
- Load and unload heavy equipment and materials
- Assist with packing and unpacking of donations
- Liaise with key contact entities, such as City Department of Transportation, Department of Buildings, Parks Dept., DSNY, State Department of Transportation
- Handle special projects and initiatives as assigned

Driver License valid in the State of New York.
Preferred Skills
- A valid NYS driver’s license
- Ability to lift equipment/boxes/material up to 50-60 lbs
- Knowledge and experience in maintaining and operating office equipment
- This position will require fieldwork that may include extensive walking

Residency Requirement
New York City residency is generally required within 90 days of appointment. However, City Employees in certain titles who have worked for the City for 2 continuous years may also be eligible to reside in Nassau, Suffolk, Putnam, Westchester, Rockland, or Orange County.
