Customer Service Associate

GENERAL FUNCTION:

Reporting to the Manager on Duty/MOD, this associate is responsible for providing excellent customer service, ensuring the sales floor is in good working order, performing store administrative tasks, providing timely and accurate check out.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES:

  • Greet ReStore customers in a friendly and courteous manner when they enter the store and upon checking out
  • Provide a high standard of customer service to customers
  • Assist customer with questions, concerns and general inquiries in a professional manner
  • Accurately enter pricing information and data into the register when checking out customers and ensure that the correct payment has been received for the transaction
  • Train cashiers working the register
  • Maintain organization of the Cashiers station and registers, as well as stocks the supplies for areas as needed
  • Troubleshoot Cash register issues
  • Address concerns with ReStore MOD
  • Perform the functions of the role within the ReStores established guidelines, specifically, related to product set up, register & cashier procedures as well as follow the standards of customer service
  • Work cohesively with ReStore staff and volunteers to complete tasks related to merchandising, space and safety as well as promote the mission of Habitat for Humanity of Lincoln County
  • Assist as needed with Silent Auction program; select and price 30-40 items for silent auction
  • Assist floor sales associate to display items appropriately on the shelves and retail floor in coordination or retail selling standards
  • Help maintain a safe and clean store that adheres to safety standards by regularly checking the sales floor
  • Stock shelves and straighten the product on the sales floor as needed
  • Assist with scheduling and coordinating donor pick-ups as needed
  • Participate in required department or affiliate-wide meetings, events, professional development, training, and process improvement
  • Provide guidance and direction to Community Service workers in retail area as needed
  • Work effectively in a team-based environment by communicating with
co-workers, volunteers and management in a productive way
  • Comply and abide by all Habitat for Humanity of Lincoln County, NC and Habitat International policies and procedures where applicable
  • Perform other duties as may be assigned
  • QUALIFICATIONS

    • Commitment to the mission and values of Habitat for Humanity of Lincoln County, NC
    • High School diploma or equivalent, preferred
    • Strong customer services skills the ability to defuse challenging situations with tact
    • Attention to detail and mathematical skills
    • Ability to use a multi-line phone system, cash register/POS system and general office equipment
    • Self-starter with a positive and pro-active approach
    • Flexibility and adaptability to be able to perform most ReStore tasks in the absence of volunteers
    • Ability and willingness to lift up to 40 pounds
    • Effective interpersonal skills within a diverse environment and good listening skills with the ability to empathize with others
    • Previous retail/cashier/customer service experience preferred

    WORK ENVIRONMENT AND PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

    Most of the work is done inside in an office and a retail environment.

    Must be able to:

    • Stand or walk for most of a workday, including working on uneven surfaces
    • Apply physical mobility, including reaching, lifting, holding, pushing and pulling, carrying, bending, climbing stairs and ladders, kneeling, arm and leg extension
    • Occasionally lift up to 40 pounds
    • Maneuver within the office and ReStore areas

    Job Type: Part-time

    Salary: $9.00 /hour

    Experience:

    • Call Center: 1 year (Preferred)
    • customer service: 1 year (Preferred)

    • High school or equivalent (Preferred)
