Brief Job Summary
This position performs administrative and customer service duties in support of library system operations. Job Responsibilities
o Assists patrons at the circulation desk; checks materials in and out; renews materials; places items on reserve; issues new library cards or updates registration; receives money for fines; makes change; registers patrons for internet use and schedules internet sessions; answers phones; assists patrons with locating materials; answers questions; assists patrons with public access computers and digital technology.

o Shelves materials; reads and straightens shelves; shifts and rearranges materials as needed; promotes library materials by placing them on display.

o Mends damaged library materials.

o Prepares bulletin board displays.

o Recruits volunteers to display arts, crafts, collections, or items of special interests.

o Assists in the processing and maintenance of reserve and interlibrary loan materials.

o Performs opening and closing procedures.

o Assists with children"s services; designs bulletin board displays; cuts, copies, pastes, and laminates materials.

o Loads and operates bookmobile as assigned; drive bookmobile to schedules locations; sets up facilities on location; assists patrons; maintains vehicle; completes required reports.

o Assists patrons in researching genealogy and local history.

o Provides limited assistance for telephone questions and requests for information through correspondence.

o Develops and maintains various files in the local History Room.

o Assists Library Director in the selection of materials for the local History Room.

o Assists with planning and implementation of programming

o Performs other related duties as assigned

Minimum Qualifications
o Ability to read, write, and perform mathematical calculations at a level commonly associated with the completion of high school or equivalent.

o Sufficient experience to understand the basic principles relevant to the major duties of the position, usually associated with the completion of an apprenticeship/internship or having had a similar position for one or two years.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
Knowledge and Skills Required - o Knowledge of library principles, methods and practices.

o Broad computer literacy skills and proficiency in multimedia applications, mobile technology and standard application software.

o Knowledge of modern office equipment.

o Knowledge of word processing and integrated library software.

o Knowledge of county and department policies and procedures.

o Skill in decision making.

o Skill in operating such office equipment as a typewriter, calculator, copier, and facsimile machine.

o Skill in interpersonal relations.

o Skill in operating vehicles as assigned.

o Skill in oral and written communication.
Physical Requirements
The work is performed while intermittently sitting, standing, stooping, walking, bending, or crouching. The employee frequently lifts light and heavy objects up to 50 pounds, climbs stairs and footstools, and pushes carts loaded with books. Job Description
