Job Description:

Summary:
Under the general supervision of respiratory care management the respiratory care practitioner provides clinical patient care assessments initiation and modification of respiratory care procedures and therapies to neonatal pediatric and adult patient populations.

Responsibilities:
SURGE HOSPITAL PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Provision of direct patient care at The Surge Hospital at RICC. Intended patient population is lower acuity COVID-19 + or highly suspicious COVID-19 PUIs who meet hospital inpatient or observation level of care criteria.
  • Patient Care includes but will not be limited to documentation assessment monitoring medication administration & assistance with activities of daily living.
  • Ideal candidates should be adaptable to change autonomous and strong team players.
SURGE HOSPITAL PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
  • Must have full range of body motion.
  • Must be able to lift a minimum of 50 lbs.
  • Physical ability to assist in lifting and positioning patients.
  • Exposed to patient care environment including patients with positive/ presumed COVID-19.
  • Visual and aural ability to monitor patient status.
  • Must be able to speak and hear clearly.
  • Must have the ability to stand sit walk bend lean and squat for long periods of time without hindrance.
  • Physical ability
for extensive walking and standing; lifting positioning and pushing patients on stretchers.
  • Must be physically able to perform CPR.
  • Able to read write and speak English.
  • Must perform all physical job duties accurately in a fast-paced environment with frequent interruption.

  • Other information:
    Basic Knowledge:

    Rhode Island Licensure

    Degree in AMA approved Respiratory Therapy program

    Registered as Respiratory Therapist through National Board of Respiratory Care

    Experience:

    One year of experience preferred

    Ability to operate all respiratory therapy and diagnostic testing equipment

    Interpersonal and analytic skills
