Under specific direction, assist other research investigators or administrators by performing basic research and experimentation following established protocols or research related support tasks.
May perform routine lab and equipment maintenance, which may include cleaning glassware, counter tops and equipment. May be responsible for calibration of instruments and may be required to set-up and operate various scientific experiences for students. Will be required to attend community events as needed and interact with K-12 student groups.
Perform literature searches under supervision. Read assigned literature and technical documents as directed by senior research investigator(s). Properly document procedural actions and results.
Work under direct supervision of a faculty or senior research staff. Some day, evening, and weekend hours will be required.
Exhibit good organizational, communication and interpersonal skills, but possess a limited knowledge of research. Possess a working knowledge and use of basic computer programs, such as Microsoft Word and Excel.
May be responsible for the collation and formatting of data for analysis.
Contributes as a member on a variety of teams. Communicates effectively with diverse audiences, using appropriate media and language. Coaches others on leveraging their strengths in one environment and applying them to another. Adapts documents and presentations for the intended audience. Works with capital budgets, operating budgets and cash budgets. Shifts focus among several efforts as required by changing priorities. Plans, estimates, staffs, organizes and monitors a set of projects within a program. Marks progress toward achieving the vision at key milestones and special events. Maintains sense of commitment to success, personal achievement and satisfaction. Influences key individuals inside and outside own group and earns their respect. Position is PRN (not benefit eligible). Hours: Typically weekday hours working from 2p-5p. May include some weekend/evening events.
Primary responsibilities to include: Preparing materials for students, communicating with the team and our visitors, and presenting lessons to groups of learners
High school diploma or equivalent required. Education background in an education or science-related field, i.e. Biology, Chemistry, Education, or Engineering. Six months to a year of related research experience is preferred.
Position requires strong communication and interpersonal skills as well as time management and organizational skills. Working knowledge and use of basic computer programs, such as Microsoft Word and Excel.
