High school diploma or GED; experience driving a multi-passenger vehicle and experience working with individuals with intellectual disabilities preferred; experience using Microsoft Office Suite including Excel, Internet Explorer, Outlook; or an equivalent combination of training and experience. Good driving record required. Must not reflect a total of six or more demerit points within the twenty-four months preceding the anticipated hire date, or one major violation of six demerit points within the preceding thirty-six months. Pre-employment drug testing, FBI criminal background check and education/degree verification required.
Conduct transportation support services as a driver with a floating work schedule between 4:30 a.m. to midnight. Transport individuals with intellectual disabilities to and from work sites. Assist non-ambulatory passengers in loading and unloading utilizing a wheelchair lift. Assist non-ambulatory passengers in manipulating their wheelchairs and securing them with belts. Follow regularly assigned routes and schedules, immediately reporting delays to dispatch. Comply with all state and county rules and laws and adhere to Chesterfield Employment Services (CES) van driver rules. Maintain a current Virginia driver's license. Contact appropriate emergency (police, hospital, tow truck, and CES office) in cases of accident or breakdown. Keep Transportation Supervisor apprised of vehicle's condition. Inform Customer Service Technician/Dispatcher of no-shows of any consumers on the scheduled route. Responsible for daily vehicle maintenance; check fluid levels (oil, transmission fluid, windshield washer fluid, and gas); and tires (excessive wear and proper air pressure).
