Under general supervision, the Human Resources/Payroll Assistant is instrumental in undertaking a variety of HR administrative responsibilities in support effective and efficient operations of the Old Point’s Human Resources Department. Responsibilities include, but not limited to, maintaining accurate and up-to-date human resource files, records, and documentation; answering frequently asked questions from applicants and employees relative to standard policies, payroll, benefits, hiring processes, etc.; performing scheduled audits of Human Resources files and records to ensure that all required documents are collected and filed appropriately; provides timely and accurate reporting of employee documentation and any other projects assigned; Assists with payroll functions including payroll preparation, processing,; Assisting with new hire orientations, onboarding and separation processes.
??? Serves as gatekeeper for employee records and files, including filing, scanning and general maintenance, ensuring regulatory compliance and recordkeeping are met.
??? Maintains the integrity and confidentiality of human resource files, records and information.
??? Assists with employee data management in HRMS; manages a variety of Human Resources tracking and data reports.
??? Greets candidates and provides required paperwork and processes, ensuring a positive and great experience for the candidate.
??? Manages new hire processes such as ensuring the timely, and compliant, document acknowledgements, background checks, fingerprinting, and employment verifications, and other related processes.
??? Answers frequently asked questions from applicants, employees, and vendors, relative to standard policies, payroll, benefits, hiring processes, etc.; refers more complex questions to appropriate senior-level HR staff or management.
??? Manages Human Resources’ main phone line and human resources general email and ensures prompt and accurate assistance.
??? Assists and/or conducts new hire orientation/onboarding.
??? Provides assistance and support to payroll, benefits, talent acquisition, and training functions as needed.
??? Assists with Payroll related tasks to ensure deadlines and compliance are met.
??? Enrolls new hires into the benefits system and reconciles benefits billing and conducting periodic benefit audits to ensure accuracy and compliance.
??? Assists in planning and coordinating employee recognition initiatives and programs.
??? Assists in research and administration of special projects and functions.
??? Coordinates and assists with ACA, EEOC, FLSA, & ERISA reporting requirements.
??? Accountable for the understanding of and adherence to operational controls, policies, procedures and processes to ensure compliance with bank policies and related laws and regulations.
??? Assists in other related projects or initiatives.
Position Requirements (Knowledge/Skills/Abilities):
??? Working knowledge of critical HR functions in an organization.
??? Knowledge of employment laws/regulations governing employment.
??? Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite - Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint.
??? Skill in adopting technological advancements and facilitating into current and future responsibilities.
??? Strong written and oral communication skills and ability to distill and convey information in a compelling manner.
??? Ability to anticipate, monitor, and meet the needs of customers
??? Proven demonstration of work ethic and respect for diversity, equity, and inclusion.
??? High ethical standards and ability to exhibit a high level of confidentiality

??? Associates degree in related field, or equivalent combination of experience, training and education.
??? Minimum 2 years’ experience providing support work in Human Resources.
??? Minimum 1 year experience processing full-cycle payroll preferred.
??? Human Resources experience in a financial institution preferred.
??? Experience in processing employee data and generating reports in a HRIS/HRMS (UltiPro preferred).
??? Professional certification preferred (HRCI, SHRM, APA)
